Henry Benning gave his secessionist speech on Monday evening of November 19th, 1860. Benning was a Jack of all trades, he was a lawyer, legislature, and a Judge on the Georgia Supreme Court; man knew his way around the legal system, clearly. Fort Benning is actually named after him. His speech was very compelling and started off trange, it certainly got my attention more so than the others and was probably a breath of fresh air compared to the wait it out political views of the unionists. Bennings strong use of comparisons really makes his speech so much more entertaining and persuading. I almost feel compelled to secede after reading it. But this quote shows it more so that the injustices that the south has faced are more ugly, like a disease. l say that a separation from the North would be a complete remedy for the disease a complete remedy for both diseases, a remedy not merely to prevent abolition, but lso to heal the fugitive slave ulcer 6. Joseph E. Brown, governor of Georgia at the time sent out a letter on the 7th of December, 1860. Being a slave holder he strongly supported secession and with this letter he inflated popular vote from 51% to 58% to secede. He starts out his letter with three propositions, three questions attempting to Justify secession in the common mind. He was basically asking are you sure this is what you want? to the common people. Then he goes on basically double checking the reasons why they should secede and if they are Justifiable or not. However my favorite quote, which is oward the end is this next one. He Just states so plainly how he feels and does not apologize for what he says, well he is the governor so he doesnt really have to. My honest convictions are, that we can never again live in peace with the Northern abolitionists He then ends his speech with this next quote after persuading the audience that they should not be fighting each other but their common enemy. My fervent prayer is, that the God of our fathers may inspire the Convention with wisdom, and so direct their counsels as to protect our rights and preserve our liberties to the latest generation. I find Thomas Cobbs speech the most mesmerizi ng and compelling out of all of these. Like the book described in Thomass short bio before the speech one listener declared that is was the best speech he had ever heard and that he should definitely deliver it in Milledgeville. Since Thomas was already a man familiar with politics and slavery due to his books that he had written before I believe he was more than qualified to make a speech such as he did. I found it compelling, heartfelt and genuine. Because of it was a speech given so genuinely and so desirously I honestly felt like seceding after reading it. Because he started out very humble saying he is a common man then slowly eased into Lincoln being elected and if that is grounds for secession then talks about the constitution and condemns the Personal Liberty Laws and goes into four points of secession and what really are the grounds for it. Lastly he ends his speech thwarting the Fugitive Law of the Federal Government. I believe it was a well-planned, well invoked speech that got the point across clearly to the common man which was important back then since they took a popular vote on secession, 166 130 favored secession so clearly they got the point somehow.

Many teachers dip into their own pockets and buy bulletin boards already made, but handmade bulletin boards offer opportunities to: Display Student Work (as models of acceptable or good quality school product.)Support InstructionReinforce desired behaviors Display Student Work Posting student work offers two important impacts on classroom management: Reinforce and motivate students by recognizing their best work product.Model the sort of work that you want students to create. Star Student Work: A dedicated section of the board to post good quality work each week can help motivate students. Project Board: Project-based learning is one way to keep kids excited about learning and fully engaged. In self-contained programs, try rolling from subject to subject: after a big reading project, you start a big science project, or a big inter-subject project, like planning a house or a trip, including making budget (math,) finding a flight (research) and writing an imaginary journal (language arts.) One board could be the project board and turn over every time a new project comes up. Student of the Week: One way to support self-esteem, help students learn about each other and even to do a little public speaking is by having a student of the week. Choose them randomly rather than with any reflection of their behavior (dont decide on Monday that Johnny can no longer be the student of the week because of a bad recess.) Word Walls: From kindergarten to graduation, a word wall with important words/terms to learn should be a part of regular instruction. For social studies, you may want to review new terms both as they come up and merely as you are reviewing for assessment. Poverty, which forms a specific culture and way of life, is a growing issue in Nigeria. The number of Nigerians living in poverty is continually increasing; hence its effects on students performance. This research focuses on the causes and effects of poverty on the academic performance of pupils in primary school, using primary school within Pankshin Local Government as a case study. To create a comprehensive overview of the study and data collection, both primary and secondary methods were used. The primary method includes the questionnaire while secondary method includes books, articles, results and academics performance of students between 2005 – 2011. Questionnaires were distributed among three (3) randomly chosen primary schools, and the returned questionnaires were collated, analysed and interpreted. The results showed that majority of students in primary schools studied have parents who are living below poverty line subsequently, this affects their performance in school as a result of lack of income. Moreover, majority of the students whose parents are below poverty line have reported cases of different diseases which lead to absenteeism. Lastly, it was observed that some students dropout as a result of inability to pay tuition fees. This research hereby recommends that Government should team up with private bodies to make as well implement policies to reduce poverty. Finally, teachers are advised to inculcate teaching techniques that will help students understand the subject easily in order to perform well.

Just what is Albert Camus so popular for one might ask? The answer would be his approach to his work— the underlying beliefs of Existentialism or the theory of the absurd that characterizes his pieces (Wyatt 1).1 All of Camus’ works incorporate this strong sense of the individual having freedom of choice, and thus complete control over his own outcome. He acknowledges no help or contr ol from higher powers, just simply focuses on the individual; consequently, creating a sense of alienation. Albert Camus’ attraction to and his use of Existential beliefs began from his own life circumstances. Albert Camus was born on November 7, 1913 to his parents Lucien Auguste Camus and Catherine Sintà ¨s Camus. Albert was born in Mondovi, Algeria, a French colony until receiving independence in 1962. Models of Writing

Writing can be an intimidating task.   Many people of all ages will admit to avoiding and even fearing the writing process.   For some reason, the task seems daunting, so methods have been adapted to help ease the process for those that struggle. The five step writing process is typically composed of some derivation of the following steps:   prewriting, planning, drafting, revising, and proofreading.   These steps are widely taught in classrooms from the elementary school level through post graduate work.   The depth of each level is the thing that differs as writers grow and mature. Hill Summary The prewriting phase involves the production of ideas and even strategies for later writing of the essay.   This can include using one of many types of graphic organizers such as bubble charts or outlining techniques.   It can also be less organized like brainstorming lists or even random thoughts.   The prewriting phase is a time to explore all facets of an idea without judging or commitment.   During this phase, the writer will find a topic and create his questions for research.   In conducting his research, whether it be formal or informal, he will discover the answers to his questions. Thus the next sequential stage of writing is the planning stage.   Here the writer accumulates all of the information necessary and begins to sort it into categories.   This coincides with the text’s second step of finding and evaluating information from various sources.   Here the writer is still gather information without being certain exactly which he will use. These first two steps correlate with McQuinn and Roach’s first step in their writing process which is the idea step.   According to their website, â€Å"ideas are the heart of the message, the content of the piece, the main theme, together with the details (documented support, elaboration, anecdotes, images) that enrich and develop that theme by building understanding or holding a reader's attention.†Ã‚   Here the writer comes up with the central focus of his work and gather information to support it.   This information may be anecdotal, research-oriented, observed or simply created.   The ideas are important to the process because they allow for wide-ranging creativity from the writer. The third step in the general writing process is drafting.   The text suggests taking notes from the sources and making a formal outline.   It is at this point that the final decisions are made as to what information should be included.   It is important to note that a draft is not a final copy.   Many students of writing make that mistake.   The drafts are sometimes a type of trial and error routine.   Several drafts may be necessary before the writer becomes satisfied with the content of the essay. This stage correlates with the organization stage of McQuinn and Roach.   They note that organization is the â€Å"internal structure† of a piece which includes is central message and the flow of ideas seamlessly from one to another.   This particular process offers that a well-organized piece of writing will begin with a strong opening and conclude with a powerful conclusion, with many developed and stimulating ideas in between.   Of course the writer will have had to already choose his content in order to accomplish this type of structure in his writing. After the drafting stage, the writer must undertake the process of revising.   The revision stage is one that involves many steps.   The paper must be examined for its content, its logical progression, its flow of ideas, its choice of words, phrasing, and overall impact.   The revising stage is much like the drafting stage because each revision is simply a new draft.   Until the revision stage is complete, the drafting stage is not. McQuinn and Roach’s fourth and fifth area are called word choice and sentence fluency.   These two ideas are key to the revision process.   Word choice has to do with, as the name suggests, the careful choosing of the most perfect words to express meaning.   Sentence fluency is the smoothness and fluidity with which the sentences in the writing roll seamlessly from one to another. According to McQuinn and Roach, â€Å"word choice is the use of rich, colorful, precise language that moves and enlightens the reader. It is the love of language, a passion for words, combined with a skill in choosing words that creates just the right mood, impression, or image in the heart and mind of the reader.†Ã‚   To accomplish this is to really wrestle with words until the most perfect choices are made.   Likewise, sentence fluency focuses on the sounds of the sentences.   This forces the writer to consider sound devices such as rhyme, alliteration, creative phrasing, sentence structure, complexity and length.   The sentences will read, in some cases, like music. Finally, the writer has achieved a focused, organized and creatively crafted piece.   He has one more step to complete.   This step is the revision step.   This step demands that the writer proofread his paper to ensure that the conventions of the English language are followed.   This gives the writer and the writing legitimacy.   The reader recognizes that his writing will be more powerful if it is also correct in its use of punctuation, usage, spelling and other such conventions.   While proofreading may be less creative than the stylistic drafting of the piece, it is nevertheless a vital step in the whole of the writing process. While most process driven models of writing end here, the McQuinn and Roach model includes another area.   This area is that of voice.   They note that voice is the heart and soul of a piece, the magic, the wit. It is the writer's unique and personal expression emerging through words. Voice is the presence of the writer on the page. When the writer's passion for the topic and concern for the audience are strong, the text dances with life and energy, and the reader feels a strong and intimate connection to both the writing and the writer. Voice is a more abstract tenet of writing, one that is harder to explain and harder yet to produce. Voice pervades all writing, but not all voice is unique or engaging or even literate.   Many writers take years to produce a recognizable voice.   Some students never learn it.   However, voice is the quality that separates adequate and good writing from great and enlightened writing, yet it is the most elusive quality of all. The process described in the text and the process designed by McQuinn and Roach have many structural similarities.   They both depend on good ideas, organization, drafting, revising and proofreading.   However, the McQuinn and Roach model go beyond this to demand an element of uniqueness, of style, from the writers.   This style is very difficult to teach.   For this reason, it is much more difficult to use. A student of writing would find the text much easier to follow.   The steps are well-defining, and a student who carefully follows them will produce a good piece of writing.   The steps are easy to repeat and practice, and they can be applied to many situations. However, a student who has mastered this type of writing and desire another level to his work will find McQuinn and Roach an excellent step in this direction.   While the tutorial on their website cannot guarantee that one will become a stylist, it gives a mature writer more dimensions with which to experiment in his writing.   Word choice, sentence fluency and voice are all components of this dimension.   Merely good writing can exist without them, but great writing can only emerge with them.   Thus, the user-friendliness of these two models will depend on the level of adequacy that the writer has achieved. Blue Parker Original Writing: The Blitz

It started out as a normal day; birds were singing and the autumn leaves were falling, each golden, crisply leaf floating to the golden carpet of the woodland. Everyone in the village smiled and said, â€Å"Hello† as you passed them by, the sun was shining like a shimmering coin. Trees were dancing in the mid-day breeze which lightly blew through the perfect air†¦ That was until a growing cloud started to shroud my village and eclipsed the sun. That was until the rain shot down like bullets. That was until my home was blitzed by the German army. The quiet and tranquil morning was suddenly replaced with chaos and fear. No longer did the citizens not stop to say hello, instead they dashed into their homes. No longer did bird song echo on the breeze. Now only the sound of chaos and fear remained. The black mist closed upon my village; it was in complete darkness. Then I saw them; the fighter planes which elegantly swooped down like a graceful yet vicious swarm. The planes dived and ducked to violently attack my home land. In the air I could smell fear mixed with a smoky blitz of burning buildings; the odour of engine oil, gunpowder, smoke; the unforgettable stench of dust which ate through the smoky polluted air. The silent clouds above sneaked through the frozen sky. The scent of tense anticipation hung in the air, until †¦.. Crash†¦. Boom! The bullets and blaze covered my village in a thunderous crackling wave of panic and despair. The inferno took hold and the flames flared like grotesque dancers approaching the finale of their show. The cold morning was replaced with an orange glow as the flames began to devour the village. The buildings burned one by one leading up to the church, where the priests stayed vainly believing that they would be safe in the 400 year old masterpiece. The cathedral was as white as snow and stood at a staggering height, apposing the fire until the moment of reckoning finally came: the church was defeated by the orange, glowing demon which got stronger and stronger as it ate through my village. My usually quiet village was in ruins the perfect landscape ruined. Roads became blackened dirt tracks, houses became shacks and people†¦ became corpses. Flashes of red and orange ate the buildings throughout the village, buildings were falling, crashing and burning. Was it a horrible dream? I didn’t care; I had to run. I kept running towards the safest place which ironically was the tallest building in the whole of the village. As I stumbled over the hill, which blocked the telephone tower‘s view, I was astonished to find it their, sizzling in the soaring heat that beamed down. It was just lying there like a sleighed knight. My plan was a failure. What now? Everyone around me raced towards the next town (Greenford) it was every man for himself people frantically clawed passed each other. Desperate people fled the village, there were no attempts to calm or put out the blazing monster which tore the village apart, nobody helped the trapped helpless people that were taken captive by the evil red monster. As for me, I followed the desperate horde of people to safety. But would the next village get bombed then the next then where do we go? The next day came. All around me I could see nothing but death and destruction. The village was ruined. Buildings, once standing proud and beautiful were nothing more that blackened shells. Lone people, hysterically crying, wandered from building to building in the hope that they might salvage something. The German planes had left hours ago, flying away safely and smugly satisfied with the havoc and devastation they had reeked. The enemy had gone but the consequences of war remained.

Asking quality interview questions is critical to ensure that you get the information you need to write a full case study. Remember your clients or customers are busy,  so  you don’t want to have to ask for more details multiple times. Based on the responses that you  received from your initial questionnaire, you can adjust questions to get any additional information you need. Your case study participants were obviously experiencing some problem before they turned to your organization for a solution. Give the readers of your case study, even more, context by getting as much information about their problem as possible. Some possible questions to include in your interview are: When did your team first realize there was a problem? What solutions did you try before you came to us? Did your problem happen suddenly or did it occur over time? How did the team come to the decision that outside assistance was required? What factors led to the problem developing? Add these questions to your interview list: What [product/service] helped solve your problem? What did our product or service replace in your current work process? What tasks did our [product/service] simplify for you? How much time do you save? What tasks did our [product/service] eliminate? How does your product really help your customers? Ask these five questions to find out.How Did They Implement Your Product? Another relevant question to ask during your interview process is how your subject implemented your solution into their work process. This could help eliminate nerves from other potential new customers. Here are some questions to ask during your interview: How easily did your team adapt our product into their routine? How was your onboarding process? What process did you use to switch over to using our product? What difficulties did you face in the transition process? What advice do you have for anyone implementing our product into their work process? How are your customers using your product? Find out with these five questions.What Results Did They See? Results speak volumes so why not let your customer or client data do the talking for you? Remember that you may not be able to gather or showcase all the data you ask for. Try adding a few of these questions to your list of questions: How much faster are you at completing [task] now that you use our product? How did we help you reach your goals? Did you see any significant jumps in the data that your team collects? How has your productivity changed since implementing our [product/service]? What positive results have you seen? Save this cheat sheet: Step Five: Schedule the Interview You’ve found your subject, and your interview questions are at the ready. The next part of your process is going to involve setting up your interview. First, you need to set up a time for your interview on a synced calendar. If your client is local, this may be the easiest and most personable option. Once you and your client/customer have decided on an interview time and place, make sure that you have a way to document your interview, either through a recording device or note taking (we highly recommend recording your conversation for accuracy and peace of mind). Now comes the fun part; putting it all together into the case study template you downloaded earlier. Writing  Your Title The first part of any good case study is a catchy title. Problems They’ve Faced In this part of the study, write about the top two to three issues that your case study participant was experiencing. You should summarize what challenges they faced as well as their previous goals. Step Three: Send Them An Introductory Questionnaire   Once your client or customer has agreed to participate, you should begin to format your introductory questionnaire. This questionnaire will help you get the information you need to shape the story of your case study. Some potential questions to include could be: What problem did you experience before using our product/service? Why did you select our product/service instead of a competitor? How did our product/service solve a problem you were experiencing? What are your goals as a business or organization? Are you comfortable sharing data and metrics demonstrating your success? You can adjust your questions based on how your customer uses your product to get specific answers or quotes that can be highlighted in your study. Asking quality interview questions is critical to ensure that you get the information you need to write a full case study. Remember your clients or customers are busy,  so  you don’t want to have to ask for more details multiple times. Based on the responses that you  received from your initial questionnaire, you can adjust questions to get any additional information you need. Here are 25 case study questions to add to your interview. Getting To Know Your Subject These questions should be similar to the ones you sent in your questionnaire. These should help you gather any information you may have missed. Potential examples are: What industry is your company in? How long have you been using our product or service? What is your work process like? How many members are on your team? What goals do you set for your team? Here are five questions to ask when getting a know a new client for a case study project.What Problems Were They Experiencing? Your case study participants were obviously experiencing some problem before they turned to your organization for a solution. Give the readers of your case study, even more, context by getting as much information about their problem as possible. Some possible questions to include in your interview are: When did your team first realize there was a problem? What solutions did you try before you came to us? Did your problem happen suddenly or did it occur over time? How did the team come to the decision that outside assistance was required? What factors led to the problem developing? Finding out what helped your client or customer decide to work with your company is not only informative for potential new business, but it can help your organization determine what materials to publish. Try these questions out during your interview: What materials did you read or watch that influenced your decision? What criteria did you have when you were looking for a solution? What competitors did you look at (if any)? How did you convince your team to make a change? What sealed the deal for you when you choose to work with our organization? So ... why do your customers choose you, anyway? Get the answer by asking these five case study...How Does Your Solution Help? Talk to your customer or client and find out how your solution is helped them fix the problem that they were previously experiencing. Add these questions to your interview list: What [product/service] helped solve your problem? What did our product or service replace in your current work process? What tasks did our [product/service] simplify for you? How much time do you save? What tasks did our [product/service] eliminate? How does your product really help your customers? Ask these five questions to find out.How Did They Implement Your Product? Another relevant question to ask during your interview process is how your subject implemented your solution into their work process. This could help eliminate nerves from other potential new customers. Here are some questions to ask during your interview: How easily did your team adapt our product into their routine? How was your onboarding process? What process did you use to switch over to using our product? What difficulties did you face in the transition process? What advice do you have for anyone implementing our product into their work process? How are your customers using your product? Find out with these five questions.What Results Did They See? Results speak volumes so why not let your customer or client data do the talking for you? Remember that you may not be able to gather or showcase all the data you ask for. Try adding a few of these questions to your list of questions: How much faster are you at completing [task] now that you use our product? How did we help you reach your goals? Did you see any significant jumps in the data that your team collects? How has your productivity changed since implementing our [product/service]? What positive results have you seen? What results do your customers get from your product? Ask these five questions to get the answer.Want to keep these questions somewhere handy for reference? Save this cheat sheet: Step Five: Schedule the Interview You’ve found your subject, and your interview questions are at the ready. The next part of your process is going to involve setting up your interview. First, you need to set up a time for your interview on a synced calendar. Do This With : Did you know you can sync your Google Calendar with your calendar? Learn how. Then you need to decide how you’re going to conduct your interview. Here are some  options: Phone interview.  Use a phone call recording app like [Include some options here]. Make sure you have permission to record your call. Video call. If you’re using a Mac, Quicktime makes it easy to record video calls on your desktop for free. Windows users can use Skype. Face to face meeting. If your client is local, this may be the easiest and most personable option. Once you and your client/customer have decided on an interview time and place, make sure that you have a way to document your interview, either through a recording device or note taking (we highly recommend recording your conversation for accuracy and peace of mind). Here's how to set up an interview with a customer for your next case study project. Step Six: Write Your Case Study Finally, you have all of your information collected in one place. Now comes the fun part; putting it all together into the case study template you downloaded earlier. Writing  Your Title The first part of any good case study is a catchy title. Your title should include the name of your client or customer as well as their logo. Your subhead should also be short and included information on what product or service they used that helped them solve their problem.  In your template, add your title (and your subject's logo): What does a quality title look like? Well, it doesn't have to be complicated. It should: State who it's about. Explain what was done. Communicate a clear result. Take a look at this example from bit.ly: This title works because of it explains: The problem the company faced. What type of company is involved in the case study? Executive Summary Your executive summary should be a two  to three  sentence paragraph that describes the story of your client/customer. You can also include a statistic or two to help illustrate the success of your case study subject. Here's what this section looks like in your template: Check out this executive summary example about Patagonia: Why This Works: The company's mission is clearly explained. It highlights the problem the company was experiencing. In the last sentence, the reader is told how the company solved that problem. Who is The Case Study About? The next part of your case study should explain who your case study is about. This is where the information that you gathered from your initial questionnaire would go. Here's what this section looks like in your template: To see what this section could look like  here is an example from Adobe and LinkedIn: Why This Works: Adobe's purpose is clearly established.   The reader is told exactly how Adobe used a LinkedIn service to solve a problem. It illustrates clear benefits of using LinkedIn's Sponsored Content. Problems They’ve Faced In this part of the study, write about the top two to three issues that your case study participant was experiencing. You should summarize what challenges they faced as well as their previous goals. Cirque de Soleil’s case study is a great example of address problems a company faces in a case study: Why This Works: The study cuts right to the heart of the problem. It mentions the specific part of the company that helped Cirque. There's no fluff. This copy gets to the point. How Did You Help? This section of your case study is going to show off the solutions that your customers and clients use. It should highlight the changes that you’ve brought to their team. Callaway Golf is another great example of a case study that explains how it’s researcher helped solve their problem. Why This Works: It shows people how LinkedIn has access to Callaway’s target demographic. The case study also explains how they created an app to help solve Callaway’s problem. While data can be challenging to understand, this example clearly explains relevant insights into Callaway’s target audience. Progress and Results The final section of your case study should feature the progress that has been made since your customer or client began to use your services. This could be shown through progress towards their goals, changes in metrics they track, and more. Here's what this section looks like in your template: Take a look at the results section of a case study from Contently on Weebly. Why This Works: The results are one of the most visuals aspects of the case study. They are easy to skim. You can easily tell what type of growth or improvement they experienced. Using Visuals In Your Case Study Visuals can help add the extra oomph you need to make a great case study. It can also help make the document easier to skim. Step Seven: Promoting Your Case Study Now, your case study is finally complete, and the customer has approved your work. Now what? You did all that work, don’t forget to get it out there for the world to see. Promote your case study by: Building a webpage  that hosts all of your case studies or customer testimonials. Including them in your email campaigns. Creating a social media campaign.
